Company Strategy
CopperCo has committed to expanding capacity to 25,000 tpa copper cathode production in the second half of 2008. Preliminary environmental submissions are complete and the level of assessment has been notified by the State. Several key long lead items have been ordered to ensure procurement does not delay the production expansion plans. Basic feasibility engineering design is nearly complete and this will form the basis of the final capital cost estimate. The Company aims to use its experience and operating capabilities to develop a production profile in the Lady Annie region in excess of 50,000 tpa of contained copper metal in the medium term. In the short term, during the next two field seasons, the exploration team aim is to delineate a global resource base of 500,000 tonnes of in-situ contained copper capable of supporting a nominal ten year, 30,000 tpa copper cathode production. CopperCo is also exploring opportunities to exploit the Chalcocite Mineral Resource beneath Lady Annie and the growing sulphide resources beneath the current oxide open pits. CopperCo’s longer term strategy is to build a 100,000tpa copper producer by 2012, through organic growth opportunities at Lady Annie and external opportunities. |
