Mr Phillip Hartog – Chief Financial Officer and Joint Company Secretary Mr Hartog holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Auditing) degree. Mr Hartog has in excess of 11 years experience in the resource sector and 5 years with international professional accounting firms Ernst Young Australia and Price Waterhouse. He was previously Manager Finance (excluding treasury) at Sons of Gwalia Limited’s Perth office and Manager Finance and Audit Manager for several operations with De Beers Consolidated Mines Limited. Mr Barry Deans – General Manager Operations Mr Deans is a metallurgist with 30 years experience in the mining industry in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Mr Deans worked for 9 years with Bougainville Copper and was Concentrator Manager for 2½ years, then Resident Manager at Straits Resources’ Girilambone Copper Mine for 6 years. More recently he has been involved in preparation of feasibility studies for various projects including the Nifty and Whim Creek leach copper mines. Ms Keren Paterson – Corporate Development Manager Keren Paterson holds a degree in Mining Engineering from the After graduating from the WA School of Mines Ms Paterson spent the first part of her career in gold and nickel underground and open pit mines in the Eastern Goldfields region of Prior to joining CopperCo, Ms Paterson was a Mining Investment Analyst for Resource Capital Funds, a private equity firm focused on the resources sector. Keren is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD) and the Australian Institute of Management (AIMM), she is also a member and Perth Branch committee member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (MAusIMM). Keren is a Director of the WA Youth Music Association.
Mr Simon Pooley – General Manager, Exploration & Business Development Mr Pooley graduated from Macquarie University, Sydney and has 20years of professional experience in Victoria, Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia. After graduation in 1984, Mr Pooley worked for two years as an exploration and mine geologist in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia for Wiluna Gold Mines before moving to Victoria and working as a project geologist with Caledon Resources on gold projects in the eastern goldfields of Victoria. Then followed a five year period based in Darwin as an exploration/resource geologist for Dominion Mining Limited working throughout the Pine Creek Geosyncline searching for gold and base metals. In June 2004, Mr Pooley joined Avon Resources as a Consulting Geologist. He was appointed the Geological Project Manager when CopperCo was incepted in October 2004. He held this position until June 2005 when he was promoted to Exploration Manager. Mr Pooley has ably led the exploration and project development activities since inception, including the very successful discovery performance, native title and permitting processes. In July 2006, Mr Pooley was promoted to General Manager – Exploration and Business Development. In this senior role, he will drive the pivotal exploration and future development programmes with the objective of establishing a target operating base of 30,000 annual copper tonnes over the next few years. Mr Pooley is a member of the AusIMM and the AIG. He has recently accepted a role on the Complaints and Ethics Committee of the AIG. Mr Robin Jones – Project Manager, Engineering Mr Jones has a BSc degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cape Town and holds a RSA Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works). He has 15 years experience in the mining industry, the majority of which is in the development and operation of PGM mines in South Africa. Mr Jones has extensive experience in project management and developing resource projects from scoping study level through to implementation. Prior to his current position of Project Manager for CopperCo’s Lady Annie Project, he spent several years working for Impala Platinum before joining Aquarius Platinum as part of the executive team that developed the highly successful Kroondal Platinum Mine. Commencing his career at Impala Platinum Ltd, Mr Jones gaining considerable experience in PGM underground mining operations and mineral processing at Impala’s operations located near Rustenburg in South Africa. While at Impala, Mr Jones was also responsible for various brownfield concentrator process plant additions and upgrades. Mr Jones spent a year working at engineering contractors Dowding Reynard and Associates (DRA), as a project engineer on the implementation of Southern Era’s Kilpspringer diamond project before joining the DRA project team on the Kroondal Platinum project. Mr Jones joined Kroondal Platinum Mine Limited and during his tenure there, he was oversaw the technical and project management aspects of the company, including;
Mr Jones has provided project management consulting services to the PGM industry in South Africa with several engagements, including;
Mr Jones joined Ivanhoe Nickel & Platinum and relocated to Australia in 2005 where he held the position of General Manager Project Development for Ivanplats Syerston Pty Ltd while undertaking a complete update of the feasibility study for the Syerston Nickel Cobalt project during 2005.
Peter Ruzicka - Biography Mr Ruzicka holds BSc and BAppSc degrees from the University of Queensland, and is currently completing MSc studies at the University of WA. Mr Ruzicka’s experience comprises more than 20 years in the industry, and geographically encompasses Australia, Asia (China, Indonesia, PNG, Philippines and Mongolia), Africa and North America. This experience incorporates a broad and comprehensive exposure to base metals and gold exploration, with highlights including the growth of several projects from infancy through to advanced resource or mining stage. Mr Ruzicka has held senior, supervisory and management geological positions with a number of companies including Dominion Mining Ltd and Sons of Gwalia Ltd. More recently Mr Ruzicka has been employed in the roles of Geological Project Manager, Vice President – Exploration, and Exploration Manager with Leyshon Resources Ltd, South Pacific Minerals Corporation and Midas Resources Ltd respectively. Mr Martinkus is a Mining Engineer with over 20 years experience in the metalliferous mining and construction materials industries. He holds a BE(Mining) Honours from the University of Melbourne and an MBA from Central Queensland University. After graduation he commenced his career with Central Norseman Gold at the Norseman underground gold operation. Subsequent positions were with Hamersley Iron in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and Triako Resources at the Mineral Hill Copper/Gold mine near Condobolin in central NSW. Mr Martinkus spent 7 years with Placer Pacific at the Kidston Gold Mine in Far North Queensland and was Mine Superintendent during the discovery and development of the Eldridge ore body, a major brown fields expansion. Most recently he was in senior operational management roles with Laverton Gold at Rawas in the South Sumatra province, Indonesia and Nabalco at the Gove bauxite mine in the Northern Territory. Prior to joining CopperCo Mr Martinkus was with Boral for 5 years managing a number of Limestone and construction aggregate quarries serving the Sydney metropolitan area. His roles included the implementation of expansion and improvement projects. Mr Brian Wyatt – Processing Manager Mr Wyatt has worked in the mining industry for the past 20 years. Mr Wyatt worked in the goldfields region of Western Australia for over 9 years across a range of diverse mining projects, including 4 years at Higginsville Gold Mine, before taking up a senior position with Mount Isa Mines where he worked for 9 years across 3 projects - 5 years as processing manager at Ravenswood Gold Mines, 2 years as manager Coal Handling & Preparation Plant at Newlands Coal and 2 ½ years as Safety & Training manager at the NCA Project. More recently he worked with Straits Resources’ Whim Creek Copper Mine for 2 years before joining CopperCo. Mr Ian Carroll – Mining Manager Mr. Carroll is a Mining Engineer with over 23 years experience in a balanced mix of metalliferous surface and underground mining environments. He holds a BE(Mining) from the University of Ballarat and WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency. After graduation Mr. Carroll commenced his mining career working for the Agnew Mining Company at their Perseverance Shaft at Leinster before joining Western Mining Corporation for a period of 6 years, commencing as a graduate engineer and working at various Kambalda nickel shafts, before moving into gold mining at the Stawell Gold Mine as a production drilling and blasting engineer, followed by managing shaft refurbishment and level development at the Poverty Shaft at Tarnagulla for the Bendigo operations. Leaving WMC and moving back to Western Australia, Mr Carroll branching into open pit mining, joined Dominion Mining at Meekatharra in a senior planning role. The next step was a senior engineering role with North Ltd at the Kanowna Belle open pit at the commencement of mining operation and then progressing to the position of Quarry Manager. Further Underground Manager and Mine Superintendent roles were undertaken with Australian Resources at Mt McClure over a 3 year period. Mr Carroll rejoined WMC Gold as the Underground Manager for the Redeemer Decline sublevel cave extending the mine life for a further 2 years, then commenced a cutback of the Waroonga Pit (old Emu pit) as the Open Pit Manager during which time ownership of the operations changed from WMC Gold to Goldfields Ltd. Prior to joining CopperCo Mr Carroll was with Equigold NL for 4.5years, having moved to Queensland from the Goldfields Ltd Waroonga open pit at Agnew. Working as the Mine Superintendent at the Mt Rawdon Gold Mine, the processing plant was upgraded with throughput increasing from 2.2 Mtpa to 3.4 Mtpa. Mine development included a number of tailings dam lifts and storm water dams being constructed. Mr Greg Betteridge – Administration Manager Mr Betteridge joins CopperCo with over 25 years accounting, finance, commercial and administration experience in various industries. His most recent role was Commercial / HR-OH&S Manager with NRG Flinders Leigh Creek Coalfield in South Australia, where he was employed from August 2000 to May 2006. Mr Betteridge has prior industry experience with freight forwarding, fish exporting (Fiji); airport management (Alice Springs) and manufacturing (3M Australia, Cyanamid, Tubemakers.) He studied accounting at Macquarie University and achieved Master of Business Administration with Central Queensland University.
